Dr Magdalen Lim graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2010 with a Bachelor of Medical Science and a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS). In addition, she furthered her studies, achieving a distinction in a Postgraduate Diploma of Medical Toxicology with Cardiff University (UK) and completing her Master in Psychiatric Medicine with The University of Melbourne.

Psychiatry Experience
Dr Lim completed her psychiatry training with Eastern Health and Austin Health. She has also taken on additional specialist training to obtain a Certificate of Advanced Training in Psychiatry of Old Age with NWMHS (Melbourne Health).

Dr Lim is well-versed in managing mood disorders, psychotic syndromes, complex trauma presentations and behaviours of addiction in both adults and older adults. In addition, she has a keen interest in psychodynamic psychotherapy.

Dr Lim is also of the firm belief that working in both the private and public sectors will create a more well-rounded and experienced psychiatrist which can only benefit the patients under her care.

Public service
Dr Lim currently holds public appointments in the following services, treating both adult and geriatric psychiatric patients, and is experienced with the systems and resources available.

• Northern Health (SOACS - Specialised Older Adult Consultation Service)

• Royal Flying Doctor Service Victoria

Previous public appointments included being the consultant psychiatrist of the Intensive Community Team (ICT) of NWMHS APMHP (Royal Melbourne Hospital - Aged Persons Mental Health Program) and in Forensicare.

Private Rooms
Dr Lim has a consulting suite in Richmond. She is also an accredited psychiatrist of The Melbourne Clinic where she has admitting privileges.

Dr Lim also does medico-legal assessments through external organisations.

Additional training
Dr Lim has also accumulated extensive experience across a wide range of specialities including Internal Medicine (Eastern Health), Emergency Medicine (Austin Health), Addiction Medicine (Western Health) and Forensic Medicine (Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine) before she chose to specialise in Psychiatry.
